We were fortunate to be granted permission to photograph a steam traction engine that is being restored by Portarlington identity Graeme Brown.

Mr. Brown found the engine in a very dilapidated state at a clearing sale in March 2008 and has spent many hundreds of hours restoring it to its former glory.

Mr Brown has learned that the engine was used for threshing and chaff cutting on a property in Young, NSW and was decommissioned during the 1920's but has been unable to discover more of its history either before or after this time.   He believes that there are only 3 or 4 engines like this left in Australia, and that this is the only working engine

Mr. Brown is hoping to have the restoration work complete in time to display the engine at the Bellarine Agricultural Show on Sunday March 7, 2010.
